It has been 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story movie was released, establishing the animation giant as a major animation studio and bringing audiences to iconic characters like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, offering a glimpse into the storyline but leaving fans curious how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Toys

In the teaser reveals the young girl — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a latest plaything, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.

Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys seem to view it as a danger coming to replace them, which it probably is.

Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

One thing the trailer doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is back with his companions in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a new adventure with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), traveling with a carnival and assisting prize toys find good homes.

Certainly, the filmmakers will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him appear in Bonnie's room without warning is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether his partner will have returned with Woody. And what about the stuntman toy (the star)?

Continuity from the Last Installment

Fortunately, some elements are carrying over from the earlier movie. The final act Woody did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of the toy domain. In the teaser displays the insignia attached to her outfit.

Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the toys.
